I am very guilty of downloading just about anything that is not bolted to the ground so to speak. I like trying out shareware, adding plugins to my WP Blogs for testing and just testing things in general.

Well if your anything like me, you probably have had your share of Virus issues. As we speak, right now I use Avast as my anti-virus solution on my main computer. I have used all the usual softwares such as Norton, McAfee, FProt and AVG.

While I do like Avast because of it's price (free for personal use) and it has caught some potential issues here and there. I have basically depended on it as my first line of protection from all those nasties that are out there.

I now have a great resource to share which will allow you to make a more informed decision on files you may want to execute on your computer. Virustotal is a all in one solution like I've never seen. Gives you a well rounded report from multiple online scanning sources.

Mind you there are known false positives so that is bound to happen with some software, But… if you want a second, third and fourth opinion there is no better option for virus scanning than Virustotal.
